Egypt claims no weapons smuggling from its territory enters Gaza

In light of Israel preparing for a ground operation in Rafah, the chairman of Egypt's State Information service, Diaa Rashwan, stated, "Recently, there have been several statements by Israeli officials, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which included false accusations against Egypt." He said that the accusations related to the existence of arms smuggling, explosives, and ammunition from Egypt to the Gaza Strip via several routes, including tunnels "alleged to exist between the two sides of the border." According to him, "Egypt has destroyed more than 1,500 tunnels and is strengthening the border fence with Gaza." Rashwan added that "Egypt has full sovereignty over its territory and fully controls its northeastern border with Gaza or Israel." (Lior Ben-Ari)
