Netanyahu on proposed airport in Nevatim: 'Supplementary airfield will first be built in Negev'

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that, as part of ongoing discussions over establishing an airport in Nevatim, "a supplementary airport will first be constructed in the Negev." The statement was released jointly by Netanyahu, Transportation Minister Miri Regev, and Deputy Minister Almog Cohen.
"The Prime Minister has instructed the Transportation Minister and the defense establishment to present alternatives for a supplementary airfield in the Negev within a month," the statement added.
Several meetings on the matter were held late last month, during which the IDF expressed security-related objections to the proposed site.
