Senior rabbis in Religious Zionism have published a letter expressing their firm opposition to a deal for the release of hostages. According to them, "The mitzvah of redeeming captives is one of the greatest and most important commandments in the Torah, and we must save them and return them to the embrace of their families. The prices required for the release of the hostages endanger all the citizens of the country. The release of all the dangerous monsters who could rebuild Hamas' army, withdrawal from strategic areas, cessation of fighting before Hamas's defeat—these and similar actions are ones the public cannot withstand." The letter is signed by senior rabbis, including Rabbi Yaakov Ariel, Rabbi Dov Lior, and Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu.
