Amir Ohana, was on voted in on Thursday to the position of Knesset speaker, the first openly gay politician to assume that post.
His appointment comes ahead of the swearing in of the new government that is made up among others, by radical right-wing and religious parties who have said they would advance legislation that would threaten the rights of LGBTQ.
