Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said Thursday it targeted an Amazon cloud computing center in Bahrain in retaliation for recent strikes on Iran, according to a statement carried by state media.
The statement said the attack was part of operations against seven U.S. and Israeli-linked sites following what it described as assassinations.
“We warned that if the assassinations continue, we will target American intelligence companies specializing in information technology,” the Guard said, adding that the Amazon data center in Bahrain was “attacked and destroyed.”
The statement also claimed that Amazon was preparing to leave the region, without providing evidence.
The Guard warned that further attacks would follow if such actions continue. “If the assassinations persist, we will punish the companies we have previously announced much more severely,” it said.
