An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon killed a senior operative of the Hamas-affiliated Jamaa Islamiya terror organization, the IDF said Monday.
The military identified the target as Hussein Izzat Mohammad Atwi, describing him as a "significant terrorist" in the organization.
According to the IDF, Atwi was involved in multiple hostile activities, including rocket fire into Israel, directing terror infrastructure in the northern sector and advancing infiltration attempts into Israeli territory.
The IDF also said Atwi had worked to promote terror plots against Israeli targets worldwide.
Earlier Monday, Lebanese media reported that one person was killed in a vehicle strike in the village of Bawarta, south of Beirut.
