Avichay Adraee, head of the Arab media division of the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, posted a statement on his Twitter account in Arabic, directed at the Gazan residents.
"In the last few days we've witnessed dangerous actions of the Islamic Jihad organization, that could have severe consequences on the situation in the Gaza strip," read the tweet.
"This is an organization that doesn't take into consideration the welfare of the residents of Gaza, and it threatens to bring the Gaza strip to the edge once again.
"Gaza residents - do not allow us to drag you into the escalation," he added.
