The Finance Ministry will not allocate hundreds of millions of shekels to compensate more than 100,000 Israelis who were stranded abroad during Operation 'Northern Arrows' last June. Treasury representatives explained to the Knesset Economic Committee that there is no budget to compensate travelers. Knesset members protested the decision since flights to Israel were canceled by government order, and many passengers were forced to pay for extended stays abroad. According to them, those who managed to secure alternative flights sometimes paid two to three times the cost of the original ticket.
