United Torah Judaism Chairman Yaakov Asher addressed the remarks of Rabbi Dov Lando at Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth's 'People of the State' conference, saying that "he is a great Jew, one of the great rabbis of our generation, a man of nearly 100 years of Torah study. There are halachic matters that were taken in a political direction. We are full of appreciation for people in the religious-Zionist community, we respect their path. Don't force it upon us." He added: "I identify with everything Lando says. Even if I don't understand, I can come and ask. There is a basic lack of understanding here in certain matters."
