Many casualties in Khan Younis strike were terrorists, official says

An Israeli official said that the IDF's strike in Khan Younis earlier Saturday did not target a displaced persons tent complex but an operational compound in a fenced area that was run by Hamas. The official described the strike as precise and said it was estimated that many casualties were "terrorists."
The Israeli military said that the attack targeted Mohammed Deif, the supreme commander of Hamas' military wing.
It was not immediately known whether Deif was among the dead. Israeli officials confirmed that he and a second Hamas commander, Rafa Salama, were the targets. A military official later said they were "still checking and verifying the result of the strike," and did not deny it took place inside the Israeli-designated safe zone.
