The Kremlin said on Monday that Russia and the United States were at the initial stage of a long, hard road to restore their relations, but presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump had expressed their political will to move ahead.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said it was important to determine whether Ukraine, which is due to hold high-level diplomatic talks with the U.S. in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, was interested in peace or not.
