The developments came amid a broader escalation across the region. In northern Israel, additional sirens were triggered overnight in communities along the Lebanese border, including in the Galilee panhandle.
Elsewhere in the region, explosions were reported in Kuwait, where the military said air defense systems were responding to a missile and drone attack attributed to Iran, with several interceptions carried out.
In Iran, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported that air defense systems were activated in Tehran, suggesting a possible strike in or near the capital.
