According to The New York Times, Iran, China and private Israeli companies have begun deploying AI-powered "bot armies" that operate entirely autonomously - creating fake profiles, writing posts and engaging in debates on social media without any human intervention. The new development has raised serious concerns in Washington about potential interference in the U.S. midterm elections. According to the Times, on the Israeli front is Tel Aviv-based company IntelEye, founded by former NSO employees. The company reportedly operated approximately 1,000 fictitious accounts that interfered in Israel's political discourse and spread content both supporting and opposing Prime Minister Netanyahu, although the company claimed it was merely a research experiment.
