Interior Minister Moshe Arbel has decided to appoint a committee to replace the mayor of Nazareth and the city council. The decision was made in accordance with the recommendation of the Interior Ministry's director general regarding the need to end their terms and the recommendation of an investigative committee, which unanimously concluded that "in view of the municipality's difficult financial situation and the need to take immediate steps for its recovery, the mayor and city council members cannot implement the necessary measures as required, and therefore they cannot continue to serve in their positions."
