The Prime Minister's Office claimed there is no truth to the report published in The New York Times, according to which Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in early October 2023 to warn him of an impending attack from the Gaza Strip. A statement from the office said that "the claim was already refuted then, and now it is being recycled to mislead the Israeli public. On October 11, 2023, Egypt officially denied that it had warned Israel about the October 7 attack. In the months leading up to the attack, Netanyahu did not meet or speak with Abbas Kamel, and no Israeli intelligence official conveyed such a warning to the Prime Minister."
