A leaked draft of the annual human rights report by the US State Department indicates that the Trump administration plans to dramatically reduce criticism of foreign countries with complex histories, including Israel. This was reported in the Washington Post. According to the American newspaper, reports on El Salvador, Israel and Russia, copies of which reached the Post, are significantly shorter than those prepared by the Biden administration. The reports indicate that the Trump administration plans to completely delete or downplay reports about prisoner abuse, corruption and treatment of the LGBTQ community. The administration responded that the reports focus on central issues and were shortened to be more readable.
