Indictment: Drunk Driver in Gaza Border Area at Night Caused Death of Well-Known Swimming Coach

|
The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment at the Be'er Sheva District Court against Vladimir Borovik, a 73-year-old Ashkelon resident, who was involved in an accident that killed Ilan Haviv, a 73-year-old resident of Kibbutz Mefalsim, on Road 232 in the Gaza border area last year. The indictment charges Borovik with negligent homicide, alleging that he was driving under the influence of alcohol when he swerved into the opposite lane and collided with Haviv's vehicle. Haviv was pronounced dead at the scene, and four others were injured, including his wife who was seriously wounded. Haviv was a lifeguard and well-known swimming coach for many years at the hydrotherapy center of Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council.
