In an interview with the Washington Post, Brett Holmgren, Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research, warned that the Hamas attack has turned into a "recruitment opportunity" for terrorist organizations in the Middle East and around the world. "We have already seen this happening to some extent in Europe," Holmgren said, referring to arrests in Europe, including in Germany and the Netherlands, of terrorists who planned attacks against Jewish sites. According to him, the Hamas attack on October 7 "was, is, and will be a generational event that terrorist organizations in the Middle East and around the world use as a recruitment opportunity."
