The Jordanian Foreign Ministry condemned Israel over the recent clashes between security forces and Palestinian rioters in East Jerusalem's contested neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
"The evacuation and deportation of the residents of the neighborhood is a violation of international law," the ministry said in its statement.
"Israel, which is by virtue of being the occupying power in East Jerusalem, is committed to defending Palestinian rights. These measures only deepen the occupation and hurt efforts to establish peace."
