Police officers began evacuating residents of Pedaya, an agricultural community near Ramla in central Israel on Wednesday as raging wildfires neared homes. At least 25 firefighting teams were battling the flames and one emergency vehicle was caught in the fire. Preparations were underway to evacuate more people in the area and the main highway heading south was blocked to traffic.
