A mother and her son, residents of the West Bank, were saved Thursday from an attempted lynching that occurred after they mistakenly drove into the city of Jenin on their way to meet friends in Afula.
During the drive, the two got caught in traffic, and only then realized that their navigation app had led them into the city. When traffic began moving again, dozens of Arabs gathered around their vehicle, tried to open the doors, threw stones, attempted to stop the car and tried to lynch them.

“I realized that Waze had taken us to Jenin,” the mother said, describing the moments of terror. “Dozens of Arabs tried to open the doors, threw stones at us and tried to stop us.” While they were being attacked, the two contacted the Samaria Regional Council security hotline, which guided them out. “I drove as fast as I could and managed to get out of there with my son,” the mother added. The two escaped unharmed, though their vehicle sustained heavy damage.

Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan spoke with the mother after the serious incident. “This is a serious attempted lynching that once again illustrates the inconceivable reality," he said after their conversation. "We must strike at the head of the terrorist snake in Jenin itself and hit the Palestinian Authority’s terror infrastructure. This incident could never have happened without the Palestinian Authority’s incitement.”
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit explained what happened in a statement. “A short time ago, a report was received of two Israeli civilians who mistakenly entered the area of the city of Jenin in the Menashe Brigade sector. The civilians were attacked by terrorists, who threw a brick at them. As a result of the brick being thrown, the vehicle was damaged, with no casualties. The civilians met up with an IDF force a short time later at the Gilboa crossing," according to the spokesperson's unit. "After the report was received, IDF forces launched activity and arrests of wanted suspects in the Jenin area. Entry into Area A is prohibited and dangerous for Israelis and constitutes a violation of the law.”
