IDF Chief on 3rd Anniversary of Oct. 7: 'We Failed to Protect Civilians – We Must Investigate'

|
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir issued an order of the day marking three years since the Oct. 7 massacre, addressing the failure that led to the Hamas attack, the memory of those murdered and fallen, the heroism of soldiers and civilians and the lessons the IDF must learn from the events. At the start of his remarks, Zamir explicitly wrote that "the IDF failed in its supreme mission to protect the citizens of the State of Israel," and emphasized: "It is our duty to investigate and ensure that the lessons are implemented so that we are more worthy of the trust the people have placed in us." He also declared that the IDF will no longer allow its enemies to grow stronger without interference.
