According to sources familiar with the details, Israel's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Yossi Shelley is "unwelcome" in the country. The sources claim that the UAE will not announce this officially, but in recent weeks they have been "ignoring him and he has not been invited to meetings." The sources added that "this is their way of sending a message to Jerusalem that it's better for Shelley to end his role 'quietly,' and the sooner the better." Meanwhile, Kan News reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is promoting Shelley's appointment to head the Israel Land Authority. One possibility is that Shelley's return to Israel will be explained as due to "personal reasons."
