Hundreds attended the funeral of First Sergeant Ofek Barhana, 20, from Yavne, who fell in battle in northern Gaza Strip. His mother Lea eulogized him with a heartbreaking cry: "I always told him 'I'm afraid Ofek, take care of yourself,' he would always reply - 'Don't worry mom, I'm taking care of myself.' Beloved child, I can't believe you're not with us, on Saturday night we talked and you said you were coming home for leave. It's a privilege to be your mother. We didn't say goodbye properly." His older brother Oshri said: "I find it difficult to stand here and speak about you in past tense. Just a week ago, we both left the army and knew everything was fine. Your heart was bigger than life, you loved the country, family and friends, and gave everything until the end."
