State seeks permanent confiscation of 'Madeleine' ship from Gaza 'Freedom Flotilla'

Lior El-Hai|
The Haifa District Attorney's Office has filed a request with the city's district court, sitting as a maritime court, to permanently confiscate the ship "Madeleine" from the "Freedom Flotilla" for the state treasury. The IDF seized the vessel last month as it attempted to breach the maritime blockade on the Gaza Strip. According to the prosecution, the request is based on international law, which grants states the right to seize vessels attempting to breach a maritime blockade, and the court has the authority to order their confiscation.
