Under the direction of Defense Minister Israel Katz, the IDF cannon that fired the shell at the Altalena ship during the War of Independence - known as the "Holy Cannon" - will be transferred to the Begin Heritage Center. According to him, this is "to express the true meaning of the event, with deep appreciation for the actions and legacy of former Prime Minister Menachem Begin who prevented a civil war." The decision was made following a request from seven government ministers, initiated by Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu.
