Real Sociedad won the Spanish Copa del Rey after defeating Atletico Madrid in the final. The score was 2-2 after 90 minutes, the match went to a 30-minute extra time and subsequently Sociedad won 4-3 in a penalty shootout. Sociedad took the lead in the first minute with a goal by Ander Barrenetxea, Ademoula Lookman equalized in the 19th minute and in stoppage time of the first half Mikel Oyarzabal restored the advantage for Sociedad with a penalty kick from 11 meters. Julian Alvarez leveled the score to 2-2 in the 83rd minute.
