Twenty measles cases have been diagnosed in Israel since mid-April, the Ministry of Health reported. Ynet has learned that several of the new cases are from two families in Jerusalem. At this stage, it's unclear whether they contracted the disease abroad or from patients in Israel. Last week, the Ministry of Health reported eight new measles cases among residents of Tel Aviv, Bnei Brak, Emek Hefer and Modi'in Illit. Health Ministry officials expressed concern about disease emergence in a location like Jerusalem, as the area is characterized by low vaccination coverage which could potentially trigger a larger outbreak, similar to the measles event in Israel in 2018.
