Three women, including a mother and daughter and another relative, were arrested on suspicion of defrauding approximately 500 customers out of hundreds of thousands of shekels who sought tax refunds. Police said the investigation revealed that the scam began when three of the suspects, a mother (44) and daughter (21) from Kafr Kanna, and another suspect (22) from Eilabun, worked together at a legitimate tax refund company. While working there, they contacted customers who wanted to check their eligibility for tax refunds, and the customers transferred the payment for opening the file to the suspects' private bank account and later to a fictitious account they opened. According to the suspicion, the mother and daughter continued to receive leads even after leaving the workplace and, together with another relative (25) from Kafr Kanna, continued the scam.
