Hamas issued an official response to the recognition of the Palestinian state by Britain, Canada and Australia, stating that it is "an important step in confirming the right of our Palestinian people to their land and holy sites, and to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. This is a gesture to the struggle, steadfastness and sacrifices of our people on the path to liberation and return." The terrorist organization published a list of points stating that additional steps need to be taken to "lead to an immediate end to the war and annexation and Judaization plans in the West Bank and Jerusalem; to isolate Israel; and to bring Israeli leaders to international courts."
