Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Housing Minister Haim Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich signed the appointment of Yehuda Eliyahu as the new director of the Israel Land Authority (ILA). Eliyahu currently serves as head of the Settlement Division. The intention to appoint him was first reported on Ynet. Netanyahu said of the appointment: 'I am confident that Eliyahu will bring about important changes in the ILA, cut bureaucracy and work to allocate land to IDF veterans and reserve soldiers.' The appointment was made against the position of Deputy Attorney General Gil Limon, who determined that the appointment of Eliyahu, a close associate of Smotrich, is illegal. The legal adviser to the search committee, Efrat Prokacija, also opposed the appointment.
