Mechanism approved to resume goods entry to Gaza through local merchants in the Strip

|
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories announced that "a mechanism has been approved to resume the entry of goods to the Strip through the private sector in Gaza in a gradual and controlled manner." According to COGAT, the goal is "to increase the volume of aid entering the Gaza Strip, while reducing dependence on aid collection by the UN and international organizations." It was also reported that the security system has approved a "limited number" of local merchants to take part in the mechanism. Approved goods include basic food products, baby food, fruits and vegetables, and hygiene supplies.
