Radio personality and composer Gilad Ben Shach dies at 85

Radio personality and composer Gilad Ben Shach has died at the age of 85. Ben Shach, born in Gedera, began composing songs in the 1960s and joined Kol Israel in 1969. There he served as music editor, including for the programs 'At Noon,' 'Keset VeAfarkeset' and 'Oti Ze Matzhik.' From the mid-1970s, he served as head of the entertainment department at Kol Israel. His family eulogized him: 'A devoted family man, noble soul and lover of people, his world was Hebrew song, its preservation and cultivation.' Among the songs Ben Shach composed are 'Everyone Has a Star' and 'Violets' by Ilan and Ilanit.
