Central Elections Committee Chairman Noam Solberg ruled that a Knesset member who publicly announced their intention to run on behalf of another party in the next elections is considered to have left their faction. Therefore, in order to run on a candidate list representing a party that is represented in the current Knesset, they must resign from the Knesset shortly after leaving. An exception is created if their faction explicitly agreed to this in writing within 90 days before the elections, and they continue to follow its party discipline. In such a case, they will not be considered to have left and will not need to resign in order to run on behalf of another party. The decision means that Knesset member Tally Gotliv will be able to move from Likud to Otzma Yehudit without being required to resign from her position as a Knesset member, and will not be considered a departing Knesset member—a move she avoided due to concerns about losing her immunity from indictment.
