Knesset legal adviser to High Court: 'Hold repeat elections for state comptroller as soon as possible'

|
The Knesset legal adviser, attorney Sagit Afik, submitted a response to the High Court of Justice as part of the petition concerning the convening of the Knesset for the purpose of electing the state comptroller. In the response, the Knesset legal adviser reiterated her position that the court ruling on the elections for state comptroller must be implemented and a date for the repeat vote should be set as soon as possible. In the letter she submitted, Afik wrote that "the process of electing the state comptroller must be completed as soon as possible, if feasible still during the current Knesset term, to allow the comptroller to assume office. It should be noted that given the proximity to elections, in practice scheduling the session may encounter practical difficulties."
