Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara stated that the state cannot continue to indirectly fund the activities of religious institutions where young men of draft age study without regularizing their status with the authorities. She noted that doing so would encourage draft evasion, and therefore tax benefits cannot continue to be granted to donors to yeshivas whose students refuse to enlist. This was conveyed in her position to the High Court of Justice.
