A proposal to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz has been delivered to Iran and the United States and is set to take effect today. According to sources involved in the proposals who spoke with Reuters, the framework for the proposal was formulated by Pakistan. According to the report, the understandings will be finalized by Pakistan remotely. Pakistan's army commander, Field Marshal Asim Munir, was in contact throughout the night with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Under the proposal, the ceasefire will take effect immediately; the Strait of Hormuz will be opened, and talks are scheduled to be held in Pakistan, aimed at completing what the source calls the 'Islamabad Agreement.' The final agreement is also expected to include Iran's commitment to renounce nuclear weapons.
