Qatar rejected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's claim that it is conducting an influence campaign against Israel, stating that "his attacks are an effort to divert attention from his political responsibility for policies on the ground." In his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu lashed out at Qatar: "It has begun pouring huge sums into American universities and toxic media outlets like Al Jazeera. They did the same thing in Europe. Their goal was clear—to brainwash young people into hating Israel, hating America and hating the West."
