A Palestinian who stole a vehicle from the Jerusalem area was critically injured at the end of a police chase after his vehicle overturned in response to gunfire directed at him by officers. Police said that "a short time ago, a report was received about a stolen vehicle fleeing from Jerusalem toward Gush Etzion junction. Upon receiving the report, Etzion station officers began pursuing it and set up roadblocks to stop it. The suspected driver began driving wildly while endangering the lives of officers and road users and even broke through police roadblocks in an attempt to escape. The forces, who felt their lives were in danger, fired at the vehicle, which overturned, caught fire and caused a blaze." Firefighting forces are at the scene. Route 60 near Gad Natan is closed in both directions.
