Former EU official: 'Israelis need to pay for settlers' actions'

|
Former EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell said in an interview with "EUobserver" that suspending Israel from the Horizon research program is "a bad joke." Borrell, who is viewed in Jerusalem as having a hostile approach toward Israel, added: "If this is the only response the European Commission is capable of offering against what Israel is doing in Gaza, it's a bad joke. Israeli society needs to pay a significant price for what the settlers are doing in the West Bank."
