US: Southern Command chief to leave position after less than a year

|
Admiral Alvin Holsey, commander of the US Southern Command, will leave his position at the end of the year, the New York Times reported. Holsey assumed his role less than a year ago and oversaw US operations against drug smuggling boats in the Caribbean Sea. According to the report, it remains unclear what prompted Holsey to resign while activities against smugglers are still ongoing. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed the departure and wished the admiral success.
