Doron Peretz, whose son was kidnapped and returned for burial, to be appointed chairman of World Zionist Organization

|
Against the backdrop of the World Congress convening, it appears that Rabbi Doron Peretz will be appointed as the next chairman of the World Zionist Organization, replacing current chairman Yaakov Hagoel. Rabbi Peretz, who currently serves as chairman of World Mizrachi, is the father of Captain Daniel Peretz who fell in battle on October 7 and whose body was kidnapped to Gaza. Daniel was returned for burial during the ceasefire and was laid to rest at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Rabbi Doron Peretz will be replaced in the second half of the term by a representative from Yesh Atid, who has not yet been selected.
