The Tel Aviv District Court sentenced Prof. Arie Levin to six years in prison. Levin, a pediatric gastroenterologist and former head of the Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Unit at Wolfson Medical Center, was convicted as part of a plea deal for raping the mother of one of his patients, committing indecent acts against two female patients and abuse of authority. The prosecution requested a 13-year prison sentence. Levin admitted to the facts in the amended indictment as part of a plea deal that did not include an agreement between the parties regarding the sentence. In addition, he deposited 750,000 shekels as compensation to the victims before the hearing and pledged to permanently revoke his license and never practice medicine again.
