Ariel, the wife of Lt. Col. Dor Gedalya Ben Shimchon, commander of the 52nd Armored Battalion who fell Thursday night to Friday in southern Lebanon, eulogized him in a moving letter she posted on Facebook, weaving together the story of how they met, their life as a warrior couple and the longing for him that has already begun, with a promise to their two daughters that they will know their father. "Thank you for making me a better person, for being a supportive husband and for teaching me how to mow the lawn," she wrote. At the end of the farewell letter, Ariel promised Dor that she would tell their daughters about him: "Ayala already said this morning that she wants you to come back, you owe her a present for her 3rd birthday. And Gaya made the usual mess that you haven't had enough time to experience yet." She ended the post with the words: "Kodkod my love, here is Kodkod my beloved. I love you and you love you forever. Over."
