The 2026 Winter Olympic Games got underway in Italy in the cities of Milan and Cortina. Some 2,900 athletes from 90 countries will begin competing for 116 medals in 16 disciplines across eight winter sports, with the Games concluding on February 22. At the main ceremony at San Siro Stadium, figure skater Maria Seniuk carried Israel's flag, and skier Jared Firestone raised the flag at a ceremony held in parallel at the snowy Olympic complex in Cortina. The Israeli delegation includes 10 athletes who will compete in five sports. Five of those representatives will make up the team that will represent Israel for the first time in bobsled.
