The decision on the appointment of Roman Gofman, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's military secretary, to the position of Mossad chief was postponed by the Senior Appointments Committee. The decision was postponed due to lack of unanimous agreement among all committee members. There is a majority in favor of Gofman's appointment in the committee, but because this is a sensitive position, a minority opinion in the decision is seen as problematic, especially if it includes the committee chairman, former Supreme Court President Asher Grunis. A decision with a minority opinion could cast a shadow over Gofman's appointment and help petitions that will be filed with the High Court of Justice on the matter.
