Israeli Reservist Lt. Col. Ido Fromer Killed in Civilian Parachuting Accident in Negev's Makhtesh Hagadol

Lt. Col. (res.) Ido Fromer (50) was killed yesterday in a civilian parachuting accident at Makhtesh Hagadol in the Negev. Fromer, who is survived by his wife and four children, was in active reserve service as a cell commander at the Air Force Base and was therefore recognized as an IDF casualty. According to initial reports, during the parachute jump, the parachute crashed into the makhtesh. Rescue forces, including the regional rescue unit and Unit 669, were dispatched to the scene and worked to extract him. After the rescue efforts, the unit's medic was forced to pronounce him dead at the scene.
