Herzog's Dramatic Warning Letter to Netanyahu, Katz and Senior Military Officials: 'We Are One Step Away From Disaster'

|
President Isaac Herzog sent a sharply worded warning letter last month to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz and National Security Advisor Shmuel Ben Ezra, alerting them to the growing danger posed by the wave of nationalist crime in Judea and Samaria. The letter, which warns of the possibility of a security and national disaster, was originally sent on October 8, but has been distributed in recent days to senior officials in the IDF General Staff, the Attorney General and the Foreign Minister. "I feel a deep and urgent duty to write to you from the bottom of my heart, to warn you of the situation I have been exposed to, as we are one step away from disaster. The very possibility of the use of firearms against Israeli citizens, or God forbid a fatal attack on security personnel, carries with it an explosive outcome. An outcome that could lead to civil war."
