Following U.S. President Donald Trump's declaration about lifting all sanctions on Syria, the Qatari newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed reported from a source that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Trump during his Washington visit to avoid this move. According to the report, Netanyahu requested Trump to maintain the sanctions and avoid supporting stability in Syria, fearing that 'what happened on October 7 could repeat itself.' In his announcement yesterday, Trump said: 'There is a new government there, we hope they will succeed in stabilizing the country and maintaining peace. Syria has experienced enough disasters, wars and killing for many years. We have taken initial steps toward normalizing relations.'
