Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara submitted her response to the High Court petition requesting the court to cancel her legal opinion prohibiting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from appointing a Shin Bet chief. In her response, the Attorney General reiterates the reasoning in her legal opinion stating that the High Court's Ronen Bar ruling determined Netanyahu has a conflict of interest regarding the dismissal of the Shin Bet chief, due to the Bild leaks investigation and the "Qatar-gate" affair. "To this we must add the concern regarding conflict of interest related to Netanyahu's past conduct with the former Shin Bet chief regarding his criminal trial management, namely: security aspects related to the Prime Minister's testimony in his criminal trial. As a reminder, in an affidavit submitted by former Shin Bet chief Bar, it was stated that Netanyahu tried to influence the security assessment regarding the manner of his testimony, so that it would not be possible. Netanyahu denied attempting to do so."
